To say I ‘m honoured is an understatement, I’m beyond grateful for the grand opportunity to have served as your leader. From the very start, this journey was from what one could call easy. I’m sure the experience was different for everyone who came before me and the same can probably said for those who will come after me. I can say for me it was not unique but a learning experience. This process is something I’d always admired especially having had my own experience with leadership before, you can imagine I already had a picture in my mind of the leader I wanted to be and the plans I had but I almost forgot that being a leader has nothing to do with your ideals, but more on the concerns of those you lead.
To be a leader means to serve selflessly, to be a leader means to sacrifice and to accept every hardship and to fail and try again and try again not for your sake but for the sake of others. “Service above self” is a phrase I heard continuously during my time and this little phrase is a simple reminder of the integrity that must come with such a position. I could talk for hours about the meaning of true leadership but I believe I’ve made it clear when I say that I’ve learned a lot. Learned a lot about working with others, about being open-minded and a whole lot about grit. I am grateful to our dear patron, teacher Paul for seeing potential in me that I hadn’t seen for myself, the administration for giving me a listening ear on behalf of the student body, the teaching staff for their help and guidance and most importantly my parents for believing in me and making sure I was able to push through and encouraging me not to give up even when it felt like the best option.
Last but not least, my hardworking senate. Working with them has truly been wonderful and I appreciate them for allowing me to learn and grow with them. To the student body, I thank you for sharing your ideas with me and wherever I left off, I hope the next president can carry on. To the incoming senate, the Bible says that God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers, and you all have been selected to play an important role so best of luck. I’d like to encourage you not to let fear stop you but to let it be your biggest motivator.
President 2023-2024.
